EDF453 Practicum in Applied Behavioral Analysis
The practicum experience in the Programs in Applied Behavior Analysis (ProABA) provides students the opportunity to complete the minimum experience requirement outlined by the New York State Office of the Professions to become a NYS Licensed Behavior Analyst (LBA) and the Concentrated Supervised Fieldwork experience outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB®).
The shared supervision model enhances students’ experiences by synthesizing expertise from clinical faculty and community-based Licensed Behavior Analysts to mentor students’ transition from the conceptualization of intervention to the implementation of evidenced behavior reduction and skill acquisition interventions. Warner Behavior Analysts-in-Training (BAITs) complete the practicum requirements in preschool through high school specialized and public education classrooms and community-based human service organizations spanning the life span.
It is expected that students will use the BACB® 5th Edition Task List as a guide to develop the competencies that support their evolution into an independent, practicing behavior analyst. The purpose of supervision is to assess, improve, and maintain professional skill repertoires across the areas of behavior analysis, education, community-based services, collaboration, and ethical practice. For many students, this is their first step in creating a professional identity within the field of applied behavior analysis.
